Good Science

Good Science In this world where you have access to limitless information at your fingertips it can still be hard to find good quality science and factual information. In the following series I will give you a few rules to guide you through the Facebook and Google world of over-information and help you to identify good science.

Rule 1: Study size of one is NOT good evidence It seems common practice now to follow advise based on "it worked for me.." Whole books have been written based on a sole persons experience. This advise should be listened too, considered, and taken with a pinch of salt.

In science a case study of one person is considered "underpowered" or relatively poor level of evidence because everybody is different. It is also very hard to account for all of the variables in this situation.

So next time you read a social post quoting "this diet worked for me," consider the science.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
