Gluteal Tendiopathy and Lateral Hip Pain

Did you know gluteal tendinopathy is a common cause of pain on the lateral part of your hip? It is the most common cause for hip pain and affects one in four females.

It is characterised by pain over the greater trochanter (lateral hip), pain laying on that side, pain with walking or stairs, or pain with prolonged sitting or sitting crossed legged.

Common causes for gluteal tendinopathy include:

  • Putting too much force on your tendons during physical activities (overuse).

  • Tendon compression due to a fall or another type of accident.

  • Excess pressure on the tendons from weight gain.

  • Inactivity or a sedentary lifestyle (underuse).

Our physiotherapists at Horizon are experts in treating and managing gluteal tendinopathy to ensure you get back to your best. To book an appointment call 9245 7007 or admin@horizonphysio.com.au
